Just as the name implies, this ministry provides prepared meals for some of the Good Shepherd’s flock.
1 – This ministry will prepare, transport, and serve lunch to the hungry and homeless at Poindexter Park in Jackson four Sundays during 2023. We will plan to feed approximately 100 people each time in partnership with Why Not Now Ministries.
2 – We also prepare and serve dinner to those that seek shelter at Gateway Rescue Mission's Opportunity Center during cold weather. Days vary according to the need.
3 - We pack bags of easy to prepare groceries and snacks for clients in need at the MSDH's Aids Clinic.
An added element to this ministry is the preparation and distribution of Samantha Bags. Bottled water, nonperishable snacks and personal hygiene items will be collected, bagged, and taken for distribution during meals at Poindexter Park. (For the story of the name “Samantha Bags,” see Dcn. John!)
